Automod
Nine message filters, word lists in 18 languages and dialects, Discord AutoMod sync, and Premium AI moderation.
Automod checks every message as it is sent and acts on the ones that break a filter you have turned on: it deletes the message, times the member out, gives them the mute role, or a combination. There are nine filters, an optional link to Discord's own AutoMod, and, on Premium, AI moderation for the insults a word list cannot judge.
Every filter starts off. A server with no filter turned on is not checked at all.
Where to configure it
- The Automod page on the dashboard: Filters, Bad words, AI moderation, Discord AutoMod, Activity and General. Changes are written when you save.
/automodin Discord: a private panel with the same settings, saved the moment you change them. It needs Manage Server, answers only the person who opened it, and closes after about 14 minutes.
A few things are on the dashboard only: how long the member notice stays, Discord's own keyword lists, whether the AI reads the conversation, and word lists too long for the panel's form. Epix AI can also read and change these settings for you.
/automodThe nine filters
Filters run in this order, and the first one that catches a message decides what happens. The rest are skipped, so one message never earns two punishments.
| Filter | What it catches | Default trigger | Default action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mass mention | Too many members and roles in one message. Mentioning yourself does not count; an attempted @everyone or @here counts as 5. | More than 5 (1–50) | Delete + 10-minute timeout |
| Discord invites | Invites to other servers, including spaced-out links. Your own invites and vanity URL can stay allowed, plus up to 50 codes and 25 partner servers. | Any other server's invite | Delete |
| Links | Any URL. Allowlist blocks every site not listed; denylist blocks only the sites listed (up to 100, subdomains included). GIFs and Discord uploads can stay allowed. | Allowlist, no sites | Delete |
| Caps | Capitals as a share of letters that have a case. Arabic, Chinese and Japanese never trigger it. | 70% (30–100), from 10 letters (4–200) | Delete |
| Emoji spam | Too many emoji in one message, or optionally within a time window. A flag counts as one. | More than 8 (1–100); window off | Delete |
| Duplicated text | Repetition inside one message: a long run of one character, or the same word or line many times. | 15 in a row, a word 6 times, a line 4 times; messages of 20+ characters | Delete |
| Spam | Too many messages from one member, per channel or server-wide. The whole burst is deleted at once. | 5 in 5 seconds (2–30 in 1–60) | Delete + 10-minute timeout |
| Repeated messages | The same message again and again. Near matching ignores case, spacing, punctuation, emoji and stretched letters. | 3 times in 30 seconds (2–10 in 5–600), across channels | Delete + 5-minute timeout |
| Bad words | Your own words, then EpixList. See below. | Any listed word | Delete |
- Edited messages are checked again by every filter except Spam and Repeated messages.
- Hidden links such as hxxp:// or example[.]com are read as real links.
- Allowlist mode with no sites listed blocks every link except GIFs and uploads. Add the sites you want, or switch to denylist.
What happens when a filter fires
| Setting | Options | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Action | Delete · Timeout · Mute · Delete + timeout · Delete + mute | A filter cannot be turned on with no action. |
| Duration | Timeout: 1 minute to 28 days. Mute: the same, or permanent | In the panel, type 10m, 2h, 3d or 1w; 0 or perm makes a mute permanent. |
| Strikes | Punish after 1–10 offences within 1–1,440 minutes | The message is deleted every time; strikes only decide when the punishment lands. |
| Not checked in | Up to 50 channels and 20 roles per filter | On top of the server-wide list. |
- A member is punished at most once every 10 seconds, so a ten-message burst earns one timeout, not ten.
- Mute uses the same mute role as
/mute, created the first time it is needed. Timed mutes are lifted within about a minute of running out.
Who is never checked
- The server owner and members with Administrator or Manage Server. This is fixed, so test with an ordinary account.
- Bots and webhooks.
- The server-wide disabled channels and roles: up to 50 channels and 20 roles. A category covers the channels inside it, and a thread follows its channel.
Bad words
- EpixList is Epix's own list of insults, sexual swearing and slurs in 18 languages and dialects: seven kinds of Arabic including Egyptian, Gulf and Franco-Arabic, plus English, French, German, two Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Chinese and Japanese. One switch turns it all on.
- Categories (insults, sexual, hate) and mild words can be switched off and on. Mild words are off by default.
- Your words: up to 300, or 3,000 on Premium, each up to 60 characters. They match whole words; in the panel, *word* matches inside other words too. They are checked first and ignore the category switches.
- Exceptions: up to 100, or 1,000 on Premium. These never trigger the filter or the AI.
Messages are normalized first, so the usual disguises fail: letters split by dots or spaces, stretched letters, look-alike letters, leetspeak and Arabic diacritics. Franco-Arabic keeps its digits, so a word written with numbers for letters still matches. A word that is only sometimes an insult, such as the name of an animal, counts only when it is aimed at someone, not when it is used in an ordinary sentence.
Discord AutoMod
Bad words, Discord invites and Mass mention can also be enforced by Discord's own AutoMod, per filter. Discord blocks the message before anyone sees it, and Epix still applies the filter's timeout or mute.
- Bad words sends your words first, then EpixList's strong words, up to 2,000 keywords. Words that are only sometimes insults are never sent; anything that does not fit is still caught by Epix after the message appears.
- Discord's own lists (profanity, sexual content, slurs) can be added from the dashboard.
- Epix's rules are named "Epix · …"; it never touches other rules, and it needs Manage Server to create them.
- If someone edits or deletes an Epix rule in Discord's settings, Epix stops syncing. Re-sync restores Epix's version; Detach leaves the rules to Discord.
Logs, notices and testing
- Log channel: one line per action, with the reason and the message in a spoiler. AI review cards and pause warnings go here too. Log lines never ping anyone.
- Tell the member why: a short line after a delete, in the server's language, removed after 5 seconds by default (1–60). At most one per channel every 3 seconds.
- Test a message, in the panel and on the dashboard, shows which filters would act on some text, without deleting anything. Spam and Repeated messages need real history, so they are not tested.
AI moderation (Premium)
AI moderation reads the messages your filters let through, for insults that depend on context, dialect or Franco-Arabic. It is part of the Bad words filter, which must be on, and your exceptions are removed before the AI sees a message.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Review only | On | The AI posts review cards and punishes nobody. Off: when sure, it runs the Bad words action itself. |
| Jev | Off | The paid judge. Without it, Epix's own model works alone, for free, and only posts a card when very sure. |
| Sensitivity | Balanced | Jev acts at 90%, 80% or 70% confidence (Relaxed, Balanced, Strict) and posts a review card from 80%, 70% or 60%. |
| Use the conversation | On | Sends the channel's last 3 messages with each Jev check. Dashboard only. |
| Daily Jev check limit | No limit | Past it, Jev stops until the next day (UTC). |
With Jev on, Epix's own model screens every message first and only the ones it flags reach Jev. Each Jev check is billed to the server's Epix AI allowance, then its credit, including checks made by Test a message. When both run out, Jev pauses, the log channel says so once that day, and every filter keeps working.
Review cards offer Punish, Dismiss and Allow a word, or Undo when the AI acted. Members with Manage Messages, Timeout Members, Manage Server or Administrator can press them, and the first press wins. The dashboard's Activity tab keeps the AI's decisions for 30 days.

Troubleshooting
- Nothing happens when you test: you are probably staff. The owner and anyone with Administrator or Manage Server are never filtered.
- Messages are deleted but nobody is punished: look for a pause warning in the log channel, and check the filter's strikes.
- The Discord AutoMod section shows a warning: an Epix rule was changed in Discord's settings. Choose Re-sync or Detach.
